We are seeking a dynamic, energetic, and driven professional to join a global freight forwarding organization’s team as a Business Development Manager. You will have the opportunity to work for a specialized company that offers end-to-end logistics and supply chain solutions encompassing freight forwarding, customs brokerage, warehousing, and domestic transportation.

The Business Development Manager will be instrumental in spearheading the company’s brand, expanding service offerings, and driving growth within the assigned territory. Your primary focus will be on cultivating new business opportunities, promoting the company's services, and nurturing strong customer relationships.

This company holds a prominent position as one of the leading global logistics providers in the beverage sector and fashion sector.

This position will report to the SVP of Sales & Marketing. They are open to applicants from various regions, including the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, and Southwest of the United States, offering flexibility in the location of the role. Position Location:

Northeast (CT, DE, KY, ME, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, VT, VA, WV), preferred branch location (Jamaica, NY or Edison, NJ)

On-site preferred or hybrid.  Remote needs to be in the NE region.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maximize sales growth opportunities across the territory, leveraging all available enablers to drive profitable revenue and sustainable growth. This includes identifying and securing new business and sales opportunities to foster business expansion.
  • Foster close collaboration with other organizational functions to ensure seamless execution of the entire sales cycle.
  • Oversee and ensure exceptional customer implementation, including handling all relevant documentation and contracts, to deliver top-notch service to our valued clients.
  • Generates and develops new business to meet specified goals while actively seeking out new sales opportunities.
  • Maintains and nurtures existing client relationships, functioning as a liaison between customers, and operations to ensure timely and professional responses to all inquiries and requests.
  • In alignment with the company strategy, conduct market research to identify and evaluate customer needs, while actively seeking new prospects and sales leads within the assigned territory.
  • Set up meetings with potential clients, attentively listening to their wishes and concerns, and offering transportation solutions to convert them into satisfied customers.
  • Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of the international trade, transportation industry, continually gathering information on local competition and prevalent industry, and business climate within the assigned territory.
  • Understands and effectively communicates information regarding company products, services, and policies and procedures to clients.
  • Ensures that all required client paperwork is complete, accurate, and submitted on time, providing timely and accurate reports as required.
  • Attends and actively participates in business and trade events that impact the business development, as well as strategic sales meetings.
  • Proven experience in sales or a relevant role, demonstrating the ability to communicate, and provide solutions to both SMEs and Large Enterprises effectively.
  • Clear knowledge of International Shipping, Seafreight, and Freight Forwarding.
  • Proficiency in English required, and Spanish language skills considered a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, and hands-on experience with CRM software is an additional advantage.
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach, possessing the aptitude to deliver attractive presentations.
  • Empathetic, focused, optimistic, and exhibiting a high sense of responsibility, showing empathy with customers and their challenges while offering creative solutions.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and negotiation skills, along with an attentive eye for details, and the ability to gather and analyze information.

Qualifications should include:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in International Shipping and Transportation industry.
  • Supply Chain and Logistics experience in CPG, FMCG, as well as Beverage sectors are major plus.
  • Knowledge in Temperature Controlled Logistics, and Airfreight is a plus.
  • Good communication skills

Others:

  • Travel 50% or more within assigned territory, some international travel may be required.
  • Have current work permit.
  • Have current driving license.

Salary range:  $80k – 120k
